District 16 Challengers Information

Welcome to the Informational Page for the District 16 Challengers League!

As noted in the below flyer, the District 16 Challenger league is open to all residents in Loudoun & Greater Fauquier Counties. Registration Information

Challengers is available in the Spring Season and possibly also in the Summer and Fall. Prior to the beginning of each season, registration for that season is opened up on this site. Registration for this program is free. There are two divisions: the first accommodates players from ages 4 through 18, or up to age 22 if still in school. The Senior Challenger division accommodates players age 15 and above (no maximum age). Please contact the Challenger Director, Wendy Melcher, if you have any questions or concerns.

The first thing you will need to do to register an individual in the Challengers division is to create an account with our website. Click on the Login button above and enter your email address and the password you would like when prompted. That is all you need to do to create an account. You will then be able to add in information on yourself and the individuals(s) you would like to sign up for Challengers. This just takes only a few minutes, as there isn't that much information required. Once this information is loaded once, you will never need to add it in again in subsequent seasons. You are now able to register for the next season.

You will see in your website homepage the name(s) of the player(s) you have added into the system. Underneath their name will be a link to register to programs that the player is eligible for based on age. After you click that link, those programs will appear on your browser. It is important that you select the Challengers program and not any other program that is available - otherwise, you may inadvertently sign up for the wrong program - and the other programs are not free. In the event that you sign up for a non-Challengers program, it is important to contact Wendy, so we can deregister you and get you a refund. Once you begin the registration process, there will be a web form to fill out with questions to answer. Wendy will contact you with information on the upcoming season.

Please note that you will need to provide a filled out Medical Waiver form and Loudoun County Concussion Awareness form either at the parent meeting or at your first game. Players cannot play until these forms are turned in. These forms are available below, so you can print them out, fill them out and sign them.

Buddy (Volunteer) Information

Buddies are individuals who assist Challenger players in the areas of batting, base running and defense, but only as needed. Often buddies are peer athletes who are participating in the Dulles & surrounding Little League areas, Softball leagues, High Schools, and individuals from the community. When we don't have volunteers to help us, the parents or siblings have to. Any Buddy over the age of 18 goes through our background check. This partnership also provides our parents the opportunity to watch from the stands like any other organized team sport allows. Here is more information about this wonderful opportunity.

Our league does not have practices and games are played on Saturday afternoons at 3:00pm & 4:15pm. Games are played at Greg Crittenden Memorial Park which is located in the Ashburn Farms area off of Windmill Drive. Players are placed on age-appropriate teams. We don't keep score or the number of outs. We play two innings in which everyone plays in the field and everyone has a turn at bat. The last batter gets to hit a home run. Then the next inning, we reverse the batting order so the person who batted first in the previous inning gets to hit the home run. If time and weather permit, additional innings can be played based on the coach's discretion.

To register as a Buddy, you will need to create an account with our website. Click on the Login button above and enter your email address and the password you would like when prompted. That is all you need to do to create an account. Then locate the volunteer tab which will take you to another page. Chose the volunteer role of Buddy and then complete the registration process.
