Dulles Little League Ashburn, Virginia

Big Field Divisions of Play

While the traditional Little League experience ends after age 12, Dulles Little League offers multiple opportunities for interested youth to play baseball beyond age 12 on the full sized baseball field (60 ft 6 in mound, 90 foot bases).  DLL offers three divisions of big field play that are a part of the Junior and Senior League programs offered by Little League International.

All of the big field divisions offered by DLL will play teams from other leagues within Virginia Little League District 16.  Those leagues include Central Loudoun, Loudoun South, Upper Loudoun, and Lower Loudoun Little Leagues. (Senior League may play others outside of D16 as well).  The schedule, standings, etc for each of the big field divisions listed below will be operated, and maintained, by VA District 16.

Middle School Baseball

Middle School Baseball is DLL’s most competitive big field program.  This division involves players attending a tryout and being selected to the team by the respective head coach.  Players may only try out for the middle school they attend, where as private school or home schooled students may try out for the middle school for which they are zoned.  Due to middle school boundaries differing slightly from elementary school boundaries, any DLL player who is league age 13+ years old, and zoned for Belmont Ridge MS or Stonehill MS, must register with CLLL or LSLL respectively.

Each DLL middle school team (Farmwell Station, Eagle Ridge, Trailside) will be comprised of 12-14 eligible players (coach's discretion).  Players who are league age 13 - 15, and in seventh or eighth grade are eligible to play on their respective middle school teams. League age 13 players in sixth grade, along with league age 12 players in seventh grade may be eligible to try out for their middle school teams. For these, or other cases not listed, contact DLL at the email address below.

Middle school regular season and playoff games are generally Mondays and Thursdays.  Practices are scheduled at the coach's discretion.

VA District 16's middle school baseball program falls under the Senior League classification and will follow the rules set forth by Little League International for that division.  One specific rule to note is that all non-wood bats must meet the BBCOR performance standard

For the Spring 2025 season, tryouts will be conducted over two separate sessions - one in the late fall (Nov) and one in the winter (Feb). The purpose of the fall evaluation session is to give the coaches the ability to evaluate players on a field. The winter tryout will be more focused on skills that are easier to evaluate indoors - such as pitching and hitting. Players are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to attend both sessions to allow coaches the ability to see the players' full range of skills and abilities. The location/time of the fall tryouts are as follows:
Farmwell Station - Wednesday, 11/6, 6 - 7:30 pm, Tillett #1
  Eagle Ridge - Saturday, 11/9, 12 - 1:30 pm, Tillett #1
Trailside  - Saturday, 11/9, 1:30 - 3 pm, Tillett #1
The winter tryout is scheduled for February 1, 2025, and will be at Replay Baseball in Ashburn. More details will be emailed to registrants and posted online when times are confirmed.

Only players who have registered in this program will be eligible to try out. Any players interested in trying out for their middle school baseball team, and attending the fall evaluation, need to register on the Dulles Little League website no later than November 1, 2024. Decisions on team selection will not be made until after the winter tryouts are completed.

Junior League

Juniors is DLL’s program for league age 13 and 14 players, and serves as the introduction to the full-sized baseball field.  Juniors regular season and playoff games are typically played on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  In the spring season, DLL players may be registered for middle school, juniors, or both.

Juniors players may use wood, USA or BBCOR bats.

Senior League

Seniors is DLL’s program for league age 15 and 16 players.  Seniors teams play against other Seniors teams from other D16 Little Leagues, as well as Seniors teams from other Little Leagues throughout Virginia.  Sometimes DLL combines with other local leagues to be able offer players a team to play on.  This is dependent upon registration numbers.

Seniors players may use wood or BBCOR bats.
